The Nether
Directed by Jesus Kargue
2026
I served as the lead makeup artist for the short film The Nether, where I was responsible for designing and applying makeup that conveyed a visibly tired and exhausted appearance for the main talent. A key challenge of this project was that it was filmed in black and white, which required me to carefully consider how different colors and tones would translate on camera.

I was responsible for the Mastiff’s makeup application, focusing on a sculpted, character-driven look. I added a large brown facial marking on the right side to enhance his canine qualities and incorporated a tired, worn-in appearance to support the character’s unstable, deteriorating mental state.
Along with that, I was also responsible for Emilys makeup change at the end of the show, making her look more drained like the rest of the Moors.

I ensured the lead actor portraying Curly received consistent basic corrective makeup, including bronzing to balance his fair complexion and blonde hair. My work focused on maintaining continuity and creating a stage-appropriate appearance under theatrical lighting.
